Tablight
Light up your tab.

A free, privacy-first workbench for tab and melody — for guitar, piano and violin.

What it does
  • Detects the key and scale of whatever you enter, automatically
  • Analyses chord structures and voicings across the full fretboard
  • Transposes to any key in seconds
  • Write a melody straight onto an on-screen piano — no tablature required
  • Turns a guitar tab into piano keys or violin fingerings — same notes, shown on the instrument you actually play, with finger numbers and unreachable notes flagged
  • Hear it back with sampled instruments, record your own timing, and loop any passage to practise it
  • Import and export your own files — text or PDF tabs, melodies and recordings
  • Works entirely in your browser — nothing stored, no account needed
Privacy
Tablight has no database and no user accounts. Everything it works with comes from you — what you type, what you play on the keyboard, or a file you already have. A tab, a melody, a recording of your own timing: none of it leaves your browser in any meaningful form, and the moment you close the page it's gone. There is nothing to log, nothing to share, nothing to store. Tablight never knows — and never asks — what song or composer your notes relate to.
Who it's for
  • Composers sketching and editing their own material
  • Musicians analysing the theory behind a piece
  • Guitarists checking a transcription they made themselves
  • Pianists and violinists who want to see a line under their fingers
  • Anyone drilling an awkward passage on a loop, at their own tempo
  • Anyone who thinks in frets, keys and strings rather than sheet music

Found a bug?
Something broke, gave a wrong result, or just felt off? Describe it — the more detail the better.

Feature idea?
Missing a chord type, a tuning, an analysis feature? Pitch it. Every feature here started as someone's thought.

Just saying hi?
That works too. Knowing who uses this and how keeps the motivation going.
